London

We are pleased to announce that Alan Mathewson has started his new role as Chief Executive Officer, following his appointment in October last year.

Mathewson, 47, joins Brown Shipley from Santander UK where he worked as Managing Director, Wealth Management and Private Banking. In this role, he led Santander’s move into the UK private banking and wealth management market and was instrumental in the launch of Santander’s digital investment channel.

Before heading up Santander’s wealth management arm, Mathewson held various other senior leadership positions during his 22 years with the business. These roles included CEO of Cater Allen Private Bank, CEO of Santander Insurance, CEO of Santander Cards and Managing Director of Santander's Retail Branch Network.

Ian Sackfield, former CEO, will remain with the business as a Client Director. He will focus on advising clients, something he continued to do throughout his tenure as CEO.

Alan Mathewson, CEO, commented: “I am delighted to have taken up the reins at Brown Shipley. Building upon an excellent track record and its solid foundations as a UK-wide full-service wealth manager, Brown Shipley has a clear vision for ambitious growth that I am focused on helping to deliver. In particular, I will look to further develop our client service proposition to ensure we continue to provide all our clients with a first class service now and in the future.

“I would also like to thank Ian Sackfield for facilitating such a smooth transition. I now look forward to working with colleagues from across the business to help continue driving Brown Shipley forward.”
